Granular A crushed limestone 0-3/4 inch driveway base gravel - top down view of angular grey compactable aggregate

Granular A Limestone (0-3/4") – Premium Driveway Base

Granular A Limestone (0-3/4") – Premium Driveway Base

The Gold Standard for Driveways in Southwestern Ontario.

When it comes to building a driveway that lasts, stability is everything. Our 0-3/4" Crushed Limestone, widely known across the industry as Granular A, is the essential building block for load-bearing surfaces. Unlike "clear" stones which remain loose, this engineered aggregate is a precise blend of 3/4-inch angular stones and fine limestone dust.

How It Works

The "0" in 0-3/4" represents the fines. When this material is spread and compacted, the fine particles fill the voids between the larger stones. Once dampened and tamped, the limestone dust acts as a binding agent, cementing the aggregate into a solid, hardened surface that is nearly impervious to shifting. This makes it superior to round stones or clear gravels for any area where vehicles will drive or park.

Why It’s Essential for Essex & Kent County Soils

Our region is famous for heavy clay soil which expands when wet and shrinks when dry. A flexible, compacted base of Granular A moves with the ground while maintaining structural integrity, preventing the ruts and sinkholes common in poorly constructed driveways.

Key Applications

  • Driveway Top-Dressing: The ideal top layer for refreshing an existing gravel laneway.
  • Interlock & Patio Base: Provides the firm, level surface required before laying bedding sand and pavers.
  • Shoulder Gravel: Perfect for stabilizing the edges of rural roads and farm lanes.

Installation Tip: For best results, install in 2-3 inch layers (lifts) and compact each layer with a vibratory plate tamper or heavy roller. This ensures maximum density and longevity.

Mason Sand (Fine Mortar Sand)

Mason Sand (Fine Mortar Sand)

Mason Sand (Fine Mortar Sand) for Bricklaying, Stonework & Smooth Bases

Mason Sand (also called fine mortar sand) is a washed and screened fine aggregate used for clean, consistent finishes in masonry work. Because it is processed to remove coarse stones and pebbles, it blends smoothly with cement and creates a workable mortar that spreads evenly and holds strong in joints.

This is the go-to sand for bricklaying and stone masonry when you need predictable texture, easy troweling, and a more uniform finished look compared to general-purpose sands.

Common Uses

  • Mortar for brick and block: The primary sand used for mixing mortar for bricklaying, block work, and stone masonry.
  • Stonework and grouting: Ideal for projects that require a finer finish and smoother joints.
  • Above-ground pool base: Creates a smooth, non-abrasive layer under pool liners to help reduce the risk of punctures from grit or small stones.
  • Paver jointing: Can be swept into joints between patio stones where polymeric sand is not being used.

Important Note

Mason sand is not the same as fill sand, and it is not intended for septic beds or drainage layers. If you need a sand for weeping beds or septic systems, choose a certified septic sand that meets the required specifications.

Northern Pine Mulch Landscape Cover

Northern Pine Mulch Landscape Cover

Northern Pine Mulch for Gardens, Beds & Landscaping

Northern Pine Mulch is a natural, undyed mulch made from sustainably sourced northern pine trees. It has a warm golden-brown colour and a distinctive chunky texture that adds a clean, natural aesthetic to garden beds and landscaped areas.

Pine breaks down more slowly than hardwood mulch, making it a longer-lasting option that requires less frequent top-up. As it decomposes, it adds organic matter to the soil and slightly acidifies it — a benefit for acid-loving plants like blueberries, rhododendrons, and azaleas.

Best Use Cases

  • Flower beds and garden borders: Provides a clean, natural finish that suppresses weeds and retains soil moisture.
  • Foundation plantings: Dresses up the base of your home while protecting roots from temperature extremes.
  • Acid-loving plant beds: The slight acidity as it breaks down is beneficial for blueberries, rhododendrons, azaleas, and hydrangeas.
  • Playground and play areas: The mulch provides a soft, natural surface. Check local depth requirements for fall-height compliance.
  • Slopes and erosion control: The larger pieces interlock and resist washing away better than finer mulch types.

Important Note

Pine bark mulch is a natural product. Colour will vary from golden to reddish-brown and will weather to a silver-grey over time. For consistent colour season after season, consider our dyed hardwood mulch options.

Premium Ultra Fine Soil – Screened Garden & Planting Mix

Premium Ultra Fine Soil – Screened Garden & Planting Mix

Premium Ultra Fine Soil – Double-Screened Garden & Planting Mix for Windsor-Essex

Premium ultra fine soil is a double-screened, finely processed garden soil blend designed for applications where standard screened topsoil is too coarse. Where regular topsoil is screened to remove large rocks and debris, ultra fine soil goes through an additional screening process that removes smaller stones, root fragments, and clumps — leaving a consistently smooth, dark, nutrient-rich growing medium.

The result is a soil with a texture closer to potting mix than field topsoil. It holds moisture evenly, allows roots to penetrate easily, and blends seamlessly with existing garden beds without creating pockets of different soil density.

When Ultra Fine Matters

Standard screened topsoil works well for filling, grading, and general landscaping. Ultra fine soil is the better choice when you need consistent particle size and workability — particularly for seed establishment, raised bed filling, and garden renovation where you are planting directly into the new soil rather than just building grade. The finer texture also makes it significantly easier to spread and level by hand.

Key Applications

  • Raised Garden Beds: The ideal fill for raised vegetable and flower beds. Fine texture promotes even root growth and makes planting and transplanting easy. Mix with compost at a 70/30 ratio for optimal growing conditions.
  • Lawn Renovation & Overseeding: Spread 1/4 to 1/2 inch over existing lawn before overseeding. The fine particles make excellent seed-to-soil contact, dramatically improving germination rates compared to coarser topsoil.
  • Flower Beds & Perennial Gardens: Top-dress existing beds or fill new ones. The dark colour and fine consistency create a clean, professional-looking planting surface.
  • Sod Preparation: Level and smooth the final grade before laying sod. Ultra fine soil fills minor depressions better than standard topsoil, reducing bumps in your finished lawn.
  • Container & Planter Fill: Works as a base component for custom container mixes. Blend with perlite and compost for planters and window boxes.

Important Note

Because ultra fine soil is more finely processed, it can compact more readily than standard topsoil when walked on or saturated. For garden beds, avoid working the soil when wet — wait until it crumbles freely in your hand. For areas with heavy foot traffic or poor drainage, standard screened topsoil is the more practical choice. Store unused soil in a dry area; the fine particles will absorb water quickly if left exposed to rain.

Recycled Asphalt (0-3/4") – Premium Driveway Millings

Recycled Asphalt (0-3/4") – Premium Driveway Millings

Recycled Asphalt (0–3/4") Driveway Millings for a Firmer, Lower-Dust Surface

Recycled Asphalt (0–3/4"), often called RAP or asphalt millings, is a popular driveway material for rural and residential properties where you want a more finished look than regular gravel without the cost of full asphalt paving. It is produced by crushing and screening reclaimed road pavement to a consistent 0–3/4" size, creating a compactable blend that performs differently than limestone.

What sets recycled asphalt apart is the residual bitumen (tar) still present in the material. When installed and compacted, warm weather and sunlight help it tighten up over time, creating a semi-hardened surface that typically produces less dust and holds together better than standard driveway gravel.

Why Choose Recycled Asphalt

  • Lower dust than limestone: Helps reduce dust buildup on vehicles, siding, and nearby surfaces compared to many traditional gravel options.
  • Country pavement appearance: The dark, charcoal colour gives a more “paved” look and pairs well with modern and rural landscapes.
  • Improved resistance to washouts: Once compacted and settled, it tends to stay in place better in areas exposed to heavy rain and runoff.
  • Winter advantage: The darker surface can absorb more sunlight, which may help snow and ice melt faster than light-coloured stone on sunny days.
  • Recycled material: Uses reclaimed asphalt, reducing waste and making good use of existing materials.

Installation Tip

For best results, install during warm weather, place in manageable lifts, and compact thoroughly (a vibratory roller or heavy plate compactor works well). Proper compaction is key to getting the firmest surface and the best long-term performance.

Recycled Concrete (0-3") – Structural Sub-Base & Fill

Recycled Concrete (0-3") – Structural Sub-Base & Fill

Recycled Concrete (0–3") for Structural Fill, Sub-Base & Site Access

Recycled Concrete (0–3"), also known as RCM, is a strong, economical sub-base and fill material made by crushing reclaimed concrete from demolition sites. This blend ranges from fines up to 3" pieces, creating a coarse, compactable mix that is well suited for building up grade, stabilizing soft ground, and creating a solid base under structures.

Because crushed concrete is highly angular, it locks together aggressively once placed. That interlock makes it a practical choice for muddy sites, rural properties, and work areas where you need stability without the cost of premium virgin aggregate.

Best Use Cases

  • Construction entrances: Used as a mud mat to firm up access lanes and help keep tires cleaner before reaching paved roads.
  • Barn and shed bases: A dependable sub-base under agricultural buildings, storage pads, and outbuildings.
  • Deep fill and grade building: Cost-effective for filling deep excavations, raising low areas, and rough grading before a finished surface is installed.
  • Soft ground stabilization: Helps bridge weak or wet subgrades where smaller stone can disappear into clay.

Important Note

This is a utilitarian material intended for burial and base layers. It may contain small fragments of brick or tile and will not have the uniform appearance of virgin limestone. For a clean finished surface, cap this material with an appropriate top layer based on your project (for example, a compactable driveway stone or a decorative stone).

Screened Topsoil (Premium Loam)

Screened Topsoil (Premium Loam)

The Root of a Healthy Lawn and Garden

Don’t struggle with clumpy, rocky fill dirt. Our screened topsoil is mechanically screened to remove rocks, roots, and debris, leaving you with a fine, workable loam that’s easy to rake, spread, and ready for planting.

Why Screening Matters

Much of Windsor-Essex and Kent County sits on heavy clay soils. Working with unscreened soil in these conditions can be frustrating and labour-intensive. Properly screened topsoil improves workability, promotes more even drainage, and creates a consistent growing surface.

  • Grading: Leveling uneven lawns or filling low spots before seeding or sod.
  • Seeding & Sodding: Providing a loose, root-friendly base that helps new grass establish more quickly.
  • Garden Beds: Building or topping up flower and vegetable gardens with a clean, easy-to-work material.

Washed Playground Sand – Safe & Soft

Washed Playground Sand for Sandboxes, Volleyball Courts & Backyard Play Areas

Washed Playground Sand is a clean, soft sand made for family and school play spaces. Unlike construction sands that can be gritty or dusty, this sand is thoroughly washed to remove silt, clay, and fine particles that create mess and airborne dust. The result is a light-coloured, comfortable sand that shapes well for sandcastles and provides a softer surface for active play.

It is also screened to help remove larger stones and debris, making it a dependable choice when the goal is a cleaner, more consistent sand for areas where kids will be playing.

Common Uses

  • Sandboxes: A classic backyard option that stays cleaner and is easier to shape and maintain.
  • Play areas and schools: Used where a softer, cleaner sand is preferred for high-use play zones.
  • Volleyball courts: Comfortable underfoot and suitable for diving, jumping, and raking smooth.
  • Beach areas: Great for creating a “beach” look around ponds, seating areas, and backyard features.

Important Note

This product is intended for play and recreation. If you need sand for masonry, grading, or septic systems, choose the appropriate sand type for that application.
