3/4" Clear Limestone for Drainage, Weeping Tile & French Drains

3/4" Clear Limestone (also called 3/4 clear stone or drainage gravel) is a washed stone used anywhere you need reliable water movement around structures and landscaping. Because it is “clear,” it contains no fines (no limestone dust). That means it won’t pack tight or restrict flow—water drains through the open voids between the stones instead of getting trapped.

This makes it a dependable choice in Southwestern Ontario, where heavy clay soils can hold moisture and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles can increase water pressure around foundations, slabs, and retaining walls.

Common Uses

• Weeping tile gravel: Installed around perforated pipe to support drainage and help reduce silt buildup that can clog systems over time.
• French drain stone: Used for yard drainage, low areas, and downspout runoff to move water away from problem zones.
• Retaining wall backfill: Helps relieve hydrostatic pressure by allowing water to drain instead of building up behind the wall.
• Under-slab drainage layer: Common under concrete floors to support drainage and help reduce moisture migration.
• Window wells and catch basins: A clean, free-draining stone for confined drainage areas.

Important Note

3/4" clear limestone is designed for drainage and will not compact like “0” limestone (such as 0–3/4" Granular A). If you need a firm base for a driveway or patio, choose a compactable material with fines and use 3/4" clear for drainage layers and backfill.
